For equivalent current capacity, AAAC typically has smaller diameter than AAC, helping reduce wind and ice loads while increasing transmission capacity.

Selecting the appropriate bare aluminum conductor requires comprehensive evaluation of multiple factors including voltage level, transmission capacity, environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, corrosive elements), mechanical stresses, and economic considerations. For instance, ACSR dominates ultra-high voltage transmission projects due to its exceptional combined performance, while AAAC may be preferable in weight-sensitive applications or less corrosive environments.
